I can tell you, my PSVR and Quest 2 stand alone do not work as well with Zenith as my PSVR2 and PCVR. I own PSVR, PSVR2, Quest 2, a laptop capable of running Oculus PCVR. I just think Ramen is making the right decision if they want to give the community better gameplay mechanics.

Again, it does make me sad and I feel for those being left behind because they don’t have the funds to upgrade, but from a software development standpoint I get it.Įdit: I hope I’m not coming across as combative. Ramen undoubtedly knows this and still had to make this call. MMOs live and die by the number of people logged in regularly. I don’t think they would do this if it weren’t necessary. The user base is small and the impact on the release schedule may be large. Next time you are logged in, count how many PlayStation icons you see and then subtract some amount (half or more?) that are now PSVR2 players. I’ll be here waiting for them, anyway.Įven if you are right (I am admittedly not a Quest expert as I have never owned anything other than PSVR 1 and 2), quest is a massive part of the player base so it makes sense to spend time on that. I will miss my PSVR1 brethren, and I hope that they will be able to come back to a better game at some point with updates equipment.

I would rather they be able to push forward than be weighed down by old tech.

I look at it like this, they want to push the gameplay forward in some way that the moves prevent them from doing for one reason or another. The thumb sticks alone are a huge jump in control for the player and possibility for the game developer. There are many things you can do with newer controllers that moves can’t do. Don’t forget, the moves have been around since the PS3. At some point a decision has to be made to stop supporting older hardware for the sake of progress. Both of these could slow down development significantly for a small team. So in that case they would need to spend x amount of time either coming up with, testing, and implementing a workaround or build some special way to adapt the moves to the changes. I don’t have any inside info, but I can guess that the new mechanics and physics in 1.3 just don’t work well with the move controllers.

PS: I even think it would make more sense for them to drop support for Quest 2 as it is the reason why the game looks so simple especially in terms of graphics on PSVR 1 ( PS4 ) and especially on PSVR 2 ( PS5 ) and PC, da to see that the Quest 1 and 2's hardware clearly limited what they could do in the graphics department.

Worst of all, I know some friends who were still playing the game on PSVR 1, will they see a significant drop in players with this decision because it was one of the best PSVR games (and basically the only option for a VR MMORPG)

(By the way, can someone show me gameplay of it on the Oculus Quest?, I'm really curious to see how it runs considering the downgrade that the Quest 2 version has already received, I want to see how much worse the game is in Quest 1)īut the end of support for the PSVR 1 version surprised me, the PSVR version runs much better than the Quest 2 version (especially on PS4 Pro) and is very close to the PC version, not to mention that unlike the Quest 2 version they don't need to keep reducing the polygons of the 3D models and the texture quality of each new item or monster in the original PSVR version since the PS4 hardware is much more powerful than Quest 2, this decision really took me by surprise here. Okay, I understand they dropped support for the Oculus Quest 1, I was even surprised the game was compatible with it considering how outdated the hardware is.
