The Home tab in the PlayOn Cloud app will display the user's PlayOn Home recordings on their PC, to allow for casting to a TV device.but also to copy the recording over the home network to the app. This will be much like the old mobile app but with some enhancements. In the next couple of weeks, the PlayOn Cloud app will also be able to "see"/discover the PlayOn Home server under the Home tab in the app. We're also going to be able to support captions in recordings in the same way we support captions in PlayOn Cloud recordings (captions are embedded in the recording and can be toggled on/off through your device). We'll also be adding new channels over the next couple of months.

At launch, PlayOn Home includes some much requested channels that have been exclusive to Cloud - Acorn TV, Discovery Plus and Pluto.

Here is the latest canned response from the Customer Support team in my response to telling them I am looking forward to being a participant in the upcoming class action lawsuit:ĭuring the development cycle for Windows 11, we identified some big issues with PlayOn desktop and how it functioned on the new OS. The free alternatives, Xbox Game Bar and OBS Studio, along with others are discussed here:
REDDIT PLAYON UPDATE
We will continue to support and update PlayOn Desktop and have continued to do so." While new features may be sparse, PlayOn Desktop is simply NOT going away. "For the 801st time, this is just not true. Where, interestingly, Thesandman21 (the MOD) states quite emphatically: Searching r/PlayOn for "alternative" shows there have been quite a few "Alternative" threads on this subreddit over time like:
